As a young Christian I lacked confidence. I judged myself harshly when another woman excelled in a specific area. Over the years— other women confess their own insecurities at that. What advice can we offer the youth? We already know what problems youth encounter along the journey of life like peer pressure, college applications, and jobs. Above all, Jesus is the light of the world giving us authority over evil.
Each child should know Isaiah 43:2 NLT when you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown.
The ministry of helps
For years, I diligently worked in the children’s ministry, and over time I became tired, unhappy. As a new teacher, I enjoyed learning biblical lessons with the kids and performed puppet skits. Each week I endured more and more stress and frustration. When a teacher asked me to teach, immediately I said yes. For three years, I didn’t teach because I needed rest.
This year, the Holy Spirit nudge me to work with the children’s ministry again. Teaching is a demanding job when you work with so many personalities. Children have a short attention span. Before class, I prayed over all the chairs in my small room. As I became obedient to the Holy Spirit, God blessed my class. Children enjoyed receiving the word. As I taught the lesson, the Holy Spirit refreshed me. The kids blessed my life too because they knew the word.
Colossians 2:3 in him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Although the U. S. symbolizes democracy and economic power around the world, black families struggle to pay bills and obtain economic security before retirement.
Watching the news, children don’t see enough role models that can impact their lives. What values should society teach black youth?
It’s difficult navigating the lonely rivers of life while a child faces rejection from other peers as well as adults. A village can raise a child. Thinking about this African proverb, you realize that a relationship helps someone establish his or her own identity within a complex society. If you and I walk into a class room, most children can sing the lyrics to lemonade and dance the Panda. I don’t hate Beyoncé, but your daughter needs to see other role models.
I do care whether a child succeeds, or not. Confessing positive words, we build a stronger community and allow others to prosper spiritually and financially.
The children hear stories about people who use faith to overcome problems; Joseph’s brothers were jealous of his coat. After Joseph had a dream, he told his brothers. And they sold him to slaveholders. After severe trials, Joseph became the prime minister of Egypt. Even though his family planned evil, God had had a specific purpose for Joseph’s life. No one knew it.
Do you doubt God when circumstances look bleak?
Right now I’m finishing this blog post before church. Lord— I pray that you touch the youth leaders’ hearts across this country so that they can reach out to the youth. If you work in youth ministry, it is not glamorous but work. Often, youth leaders feel overwhelmed at times, but we need sincere leaders more than ever.
The Devil’s schemes can’t work in our children’s lives anymore because we proclaim victory! Though the Devil hates God’s plan for our lives, youth leaders praying with boldness breathe life into others’ dreams. You remember Joseph’s dream.
Working with youth, I’m looking for new insight and ideas challenge someone’s faith. Young adults must know their own potential, and youth leaders encourage and inspire. Lord give me guidance as I minister unconditional love. When children suffer rejection at schools, they experience the love of God.
Ephesians 3:17 AMP may Christ through your faith dwell in our hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love.
